Featured Book

Searching for Alice

A novel of loss, identity and a mother’s lifelong search for truth.
Searching for Alice is a work of fiction inspired by real events. It follows a young woman from West Cork who, in 1971, was sent to a Dublin mother and baby institution and separated from her daughter through adoption. What followed was a silence that lasted for decades, shaped by grief, secrecy and unanswered questions.
More than forty years later, Alice begins searching through official records, state agencies and survivor networks to discover what happened to the child she never stopped loving. Honest and deeply moving, this novel explores adoption, identity, living bereavement and the courage required to confront a painful past and finally speak the truth.
The Story Behind the Book

A fictional journey shaped by separation, memory and the refusal to surrender the search for truth. What began in silence became a story of courage, identity and the enduring connection between a mother and her child.

For Decades

A Truth Carried

Memories, questions and grief remained beneath the surface while life continued and the hope of finding her daughter never entirely disappeared.

The Search

Answers Pursued

Records, advocacy groups, survivor networks and determination became part of a search for identity, information and long-denied answers.

The Book

Silence Broken

Writing became a way to preserve the truth, honour the past and bring greater understanding to experiences too often left unheard.
